Mapetrol Case Study: Making Motor Oil Look Good
The Client
Mapetrol makes motor oils. They’ve been at it since 1922, so they know their stuff. But they needed help making their products look cool in photos for their catalogs and social media.
The Problem
Mapetrol had a few issues:
- No actual store to show off their products
- Needed photos that didn’t scream “boring motor oil”
- Wanted to show their products in real-life situations
Project Name
Mapetrol Case Study: Making Motor Oil Look Good
Client
Mapetrol
Our Role
Creative product photography
What We Did
We got creative with our camera:
- Faked a Shop:
- Turned a bar into a Mapetrol shop overnight
- Snapped some pics to make it look like they had a real store
- Garage Photoshoots:
- Shot in two different garages
- Made it look like people were actually using the products
- European Vibes:
- Took some photos in Trieste, Italy
- Grabbed more shots in Izola, Slovenia
- Gave the brand a bit of European flair
And many other things.
How We Did It
Our team:
- Juggled multiple photoshoots in different places
- Made each spot look like someone was really using Mapetrol products
- Kept the Mapetrol look consistent across all photos
- Adapted quickly to whatever space we were working in
The Outcome
After all the camera clicking, we ended up with:
- A bunch of diverse photos for Mapetrol to use wherever they wanted
- Realistic-looking product shots for their catalogs
- Cool pics for social media that didn’t look staged
- A fake shop that looked pretty darn real in photos
What We Learned
- Being flexible with locations is key to getting a variety of authentic-looking shots
- Sometimes you gotta get creative (like turning a bar into a shop) to solve problems
- Showing products in different real-life settings helps people imagine using them
This project showed how we can take something as everyday as motor oil and make it look interesting and relatable in photos. It’s all about finding the right angle – literally and figuratively.
